NDA Agreements
An NDA (non-disclosure agreement) is a promise to keep information private. On Xilancer, an NDA can be attached to an order so both sides sign before sensitive work starts.
The NDA plugin is optional. If your site does not show an NDA panel on orders, the administrator has not enabled it.
When to use an NDA
Use one when the work involves:
- Unreleased products or features.
- Customer lists or personal data.
- Financial information.
- Source code or credentials.
- A brand or campaign that has not launched.
You do not need an NDA for every order. For small, public work it adds friction without adding protection.
Request an NDA
As a client
- Open the order.
- Find the NDA panel.
- Choose Request NDA.
- Review the agreement text.
- Confirm the request.
As a freelancer
You can request an NDA from the order panel as well, if the site allows it. The other party is notified.
Sign an NDA
- Open the order and the NDA panel.
- Read the agreement. Scroll to the end.
- Type your full legal name in the signature field.
- Choose Sign.
The signature records:
- Your typed name.
- The date and time.
- The IP address used to sign.
- The version of the agreement you signed.
Both parties must sign. The panel shows who has signed and who is waiting.
The NDA fee
Some sites charge a fee to create an NDA. The fee is set by the administrator and is shown before you confirm.
- The fee can be paid from your wallet.
- Or through a supported payment method at checkout.
- The amount is fixed when you start, so a later price change does not affect your agreement.
- If the NDA is free, no payment step appears.
Only some payment methods can settle an NDA fee. If the method you want is missing, choose another method or ask the administrator.
After both parties sign
- The agreement becomes active.
- Both parties can download a PDF.
- The signed record cannot be edited. A change creates a new version.
- The admin order page shows the signature state.
Download the PDF
- Open the order.
- Open the NDA panel.
- Choose Download PDF.
The PDF includes the agreement text, both signatures, the timestamps, and the order reference. Store it with your project records.
If the other party does not sign
- The panel shows Waiting for signature.
- The site sends a reminder notification.
- You can send a message in the order chat.
- If the NDA is required before work, do not start or release payment until it is signed.
- An administrator can cancel the NDA request if the order is cancelled.
Subscription requirement
Some sites require an active subscription before an NDA can be requested. If you see a paywall:
- Open the plans page from the prompt.
- Choose a plan that includes NDA requests.
- Complete the purchase.
- Return to the order and request the NDA again.
The requirement applies to the person requesting the NDA, not to both parties.
Privacy and records
- The NDA text is stored with the order.
- Signatures and timestamps are part of the record.
- Administrators can view the signature state but cannot change a signed agreement.
- Deleting an account does not delete signed agreements attached to orders, because they are part of the transaction record.
Common questions
Can I change the NDA text?
The text comes from the site's template. If you need different terms, ask the administrator before signing. Do not sign an agreement you do not accept.
Can I sign for a company?
Type the name of the person authorized to sign, and include the company name if the template asks for it. The site does not verify legal authority.
Is a typed signature legally valid?
That depends on your jurisdiction. The site records the intent to sign, the identity of the account, the time, and the IP address. For high-value agreements, ask a lawyer whether an electronic signature is sufficient.
What if I signed by mistake?
Contact the administrator immediately. A signed record is intentionally immutable; the remedy is a new version or a cancellation of the order, not an edit to the signature.
Who can see the NDA?
The client, the freelancer, and administrators with the NDA permission. Other users cannot see it.
