Hiring & Orders
An order begins when a client accepts a proposal, buys a service, or accepts a custom offer. From that point both sides see the same order page, with different buttons depending on their role.
This page walks through the whole life of an order.
Choose a freelancer
- Open the job and choose Proposals.
- Read each proposal: price, delivery time, cover letter, and the freelancer's profile.
- Compare reviews and completed orders, not just price.
- Shortlist the proposals you like.
- Choose Hire on the one you want.
You can also hire directly by buying a service package or accepting a custom offer.
What the freelancer sees
The freelancer receives a notification and the order appears in their dashboard. They can accept or decline. If they decline, the order is cancelled and any authorized payment is released according to the site's payment rules.
Order statuses
The exact labels vary by site, but the sequence is:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Pending | The order exists but the freelancer has not accepted yet |
| Active | Work is underway |
| Delivered | The freelancer submitted work for review |
| Revision | The client asked for changes |
| Completed | The client approved the work |
| Cancelled | The order ended before completion |
| On hold | An administrator paused the order |
Completed orders show a green visual treatment on both dashboards, so finished work is easy to spot.
Paying for an order
Payment depends on the site's settings:
- Pay at checkout through a card, wallet, or local gateway.
- Wallet balance if you have money in your wallet.
- Manual payment such as a bank transfer, approved by an administrator.
- Milestones, where each stage is funded or approved separately.
The order page always shows what has been paid, what is held, and what is still due. Tax, if configured, appears as a separate line.
Milestones
Milestones split a large order into stages.
- The client and freelancer agree on the stages.
- The freelancer submits work for a milestone.
- The client reviews it.
- The client approves the milestone or requests a revision.
- The next milestone becomes active.
If the administrator has disabled milestones for the site, the order runs as a single delivery.
Milestone tips
- Put the deliverable and the acceptance rule in the milestone title.
- Do not approve a milestone until you have the files you need.
- A revision request pauses the milestone; it does not cancel it.
Deliver work as a freelancer
- Open the order.
- Choose Submit work.
- Write a short summary of what changed.
- Attach the files or paste the link.
- Choose Submit.
The client receives a notification. If the order has milestones, submit against the active milestone.
Delivery reminders
The site can remind you before a deadline. Reminders may be sent manually by an administrator or automatically on a schedule. You can turn delivery reminder emails on or off in your notification settings.
Request a revision as a client
- Open the delivered order.
- Choose Request revision.
- Describe exactly what needs to change. Be specific and reference the files.
- Choose Send.
The freelancer sees the request and the order returns to active work. Revision limits come from the package or the agreement. If you need more than the included revisions, discuss it with the freelancer before requesting.
Approve and complete
- Review the delivered files.
- Choose Approve.
- Confirm.
Approving releases the freelancer's payout, minus commission and any applicable fees. The order moves to Completed. If the site holds earnings for a period, the wallet shows the amount as pending with an available date.
Reviews
After completion, both sides can review each other.
- Open the completed order.
- Choose Leave a review.
- Choose a rating and write a short comment.
- Submit.
Some sites moderate reviews before they appear. If your review is held, you see a pending badge. The freelancer can reply to a review once; the reply does not change the rating.
Custom offers
A freelancer can send a custom offer from chat or from a project page.
- The offer has a price, description, deadline, and revision count.
- The client can accept, decline, or ask a question.
- Freelancers can edit or delete an offer while it is still pending.
- Accepted offers become orders.
Hourly jobs
Hourly work uses a time tracker.
- The client and freelancer agree on an hourly rate.
- The rate is locked when the order is created. Later edits to the job do not change it.
- The freelancer starts the timer when working.
- The client reviews the tracked time and approves it.
- The client is charged for approved time.
The order page shows the rate, estimated hours, and tracked time.
Cancel, decline, and hold
Client cancels
Open the order and choose Cancel. If work has started, the freelancer must agree or an administrator must decide. Refunds follow the site's policy.
Freelancer declines
Open the order and choose Decline. The client is notified and the order is cancelled.
Administrator hold
An administrator can place an order on hold while investigating a dispute. Both sides see the hold and cannot submit or approve until it is lifted.
Disputes and support
If you cannot agree:
- Keep communication in the order chat so there is a record.
- Do not approve work you have not received.
- Open a support ticket and include the order number, what was agreed, and what went wrong.
- An administrator can review the order, messages, and files.
