Jobs & Services
Xilancer has two ways to sell work:
- A job is posted by a client. Freelancers apply with proposals.
- A service (also called a gig) is published by a freelancer. Clients buy a package.
This page explains how to create both, how approval works, and how to make a listing easy to find.
Post a job as a client
- Sign in to your client account.
- Choose Post a Job.
- Work through the steps. You can move back and forward before publishing.
- Choose a category and, if you want, a subcategory. The subcategory is optional.
- Write a clear title. Say what the work is, not just "Need help".
- Describe the work: goals, deliverables, tone, examples, and anything the freelancer must know.
- Choose the experience level you need: Entry, Expert, or Lead.
- Choose the work area or areas. You can select more than one.
- Set the budget or the hourly rate and estimated hours.
- Choose the skills you need. The list narrows to the skills that belong to your chosen category.
- Add attachments if you have a brief, brand guide, or sample files. You can attach more than one.
- Review the post and choose Publish.
What happens after you publish
- If the site reviews new jobs, your post shows Pending approval. An administrator approves or rejects it, and you receive a notification either way.
- If auto-approval is on, the job goes live immediately.
- Live jobs appear in search and on the jobs page.
Minimum price
The administrator can set a minimum job price. If your budget is below it, the form will not publish and will tell you the minimum. Raise the budget or switch to an hourly rate that meets the minimum.
Close or reopen a job
Open the job from your dashboard and choose Close. On sites with an approval workflow, closing can require administrator approval. You can reopen a closed job later unless it has already been filled.
Create a service as a freelancer
- Sign in to your freelancer account.
- Choose Create Service (or Create Gig).
- Choose a category and subcategory.
- Write a title that names the outcome, for example "I will design a responsive Shopify store".
- Describe the service. Explain what the client gets and what you need from them.
- Set up your packages. Each package has a title, price, number of revisions, and delivery time.
- Add the skills a client would search for.
- Add an FAQ if clients repeatedly ask the same questions.
- Upload samples or portfolio images.
- Review and publish.
Service FAQ
The FAQ builder lets you add common questions and answers to a service. Add each question, write the answer, and drag to reorder. The FAQ appears on the public service page and reduces back-and-forth before an order.
Good FAQ entries:
- What do you need from me to start?
- How many revisions are included?
- Do you provide source files?
- What is your usual turnaround?
- Do you work on weekends?
Packages and pricing
- A package is a fixed offer, not an estimate.
- Use the delivery time and revision count to set expectations.
- If the administrator has set a minimum project price, your cheapest package must meet it.
- Keep package names short so they fit on a card.
Profile details that affect listings
- Experience level: Entry, Expert, or Lead. This appears on cards and in filters.
- Work areas: You can choose more than one.
- Hourly rate: Used for hourly jobs and shown on your profile.
- Skills: The job wizard and search use these to match you.
Approval and editing
Sites can require approval for new listings and for edits.
When you edit a live service or job
- Open the listing and choose Edit.
- Make your changes.
- Choose Save.
The listing may return to Pending approval while an administrator reviews the change. The public version usually stays visible or shows a pending badge, depending on the site setting. You receive a notification when the edit is approved or rejected.
When an edit is rejected
The notification includes the reason. Fix the issue and submit again. Common reasons:
- Contact details in the description.
- A price below the minimum.
- A category that does not match the work.
- Missing deliverables or unclear scope.
Deleting a listing
Deleting a service or job can also require approval. If a listing has orders attached, it cannot be deleted; close it instead. Closing keeps the order history intact.
Finding work as a freelancer
- Open Jobs.
- Use the search box or filters: category, budget, experience level, work area, and skills.
- Open a job to read the full brief.
- Choose Apply or Send Proposal.
- Write a cover letter that addresses the brief.
- Set your price and delivery time.
- Choose Submit.
Each proposal can cost connects, depending on the site settings and your subscription. The form shows the cost before you submit.
Apply Now
Some job cards have an Apply Now button. It takes you straight to the proposal form. If you are not signed in, the site asks you to sign in or register first.
Saved and shared listings
- Use the bookmark icon to save a job or service for later.
- Use the share icon to copy a link or post it to social media.
- Use the report icon if a listing breaks the rules.
Finding freelancers as a client
- Open Talents or browse services.
- Filter by category, skills, experience level, work area, and rate.
- Open a profile to see services, reviews, and completion history.
- Choose Contact to start a chat, or buy a service directly.
The site may show recommended freelancers based on your job description. Recommendations are ranked locally; no personal data leaves the site unless the administrator has enabled an external AI provider.
Search tips
- Search by the outcome, not the tool: "fix checkout bug" works better than "PHP".
- Use filters together to narrow results.
- Clear filters with the Reset button.
- Search updates as you type, so pasted text and non-English queries work.
What makes a listing rank well
- A specific title with the outcome and the audience.
- A description that answers the client's questions before they ask.
- Complete skills, category, and work area.
- A clear price and delivery time.
- Fast replies and completed orders, which feed reviews and level.
