Account & Security

This page covers everything that happens before you start working: creating an account, proving who you are, signing in, and keeping your account safe.

Create an account

  1. Open the site and choose Sign Up.
  2. Choose whether you are joining as a client or a freelancer.
  3. Enter your first name, last name, email address, and a password.
  4. If the site asks for a username, choose one you are happy to display publicly.
  5. Accept the terms and choose Create Account.
  6. Check your inbox for a verification email and open the link inside it.

If you do not see the email, check the spam folder, then use Resend verification email on the login screen. Verification links expire; request a new one if yours is old.

If freelancer signup is closed

Some marketplaces are run as managed agencies. In that mode the freelancer signup option is hidden or disabled, and client signup still works. If you are a freelancer and cannot register, contact the site administrator. They can create your account and assign you to jobs.

Signing up with Google or Facebook

If social sign-in is enabled, choose the provider button instead of filling the form. The site receives your name and email from the provider and creates the account. You still need to complete your profile afterwards.

Social signup does not carry a referral code. If a friend invited you with a referral link, use the normal signup form so the reward is recorded.

Verify your email

Email verification proves that you can receive mail from the marketplace. Until you verify:

  • Some actions are limited.
  • You may see a reminder banner on the dashboard.
  • Notifications by email may not arrive.

Open the link in the verification email. If the link has expired, sign in and choose Resend.

Verify your phone

Some sites require a phone number before you can use the dashboard.

  1. Sign in. You are taken to the phone verification screen.
  2. Enter your phone number with the country code.
  3. Choose Send code.
  4. Enter the six-digit code you receive by text message.
  5. Choose Verify.

If the code does not arrive:

  • Wait one minute before requesting another code.
  • Check that the country code is correct.
  • Try a different number if your carrier blocks short codes.
  • Ask your administrator whether SMS delivery is configured.

You can change your number later from Settings → Phone. Changing it requires verifying the new number.

  1. Choose Sign In.
  2. Enter your email or username and password.
  3. Choose Sign In.

If the site offers social sign-in, you can use the same provider you registered with. Do not mix methods unless you have linked both to the same email address.

If you forgot your password

  1. Choose Forgot password on the sign-in screen.
  2. Enter the email address on your account.
  3. Open the reset email and choose the reset link.
  4. Enter a new password twice.

If you do not receive the email, check spam, then contact the administrator. For security, the site does not confirm whether an email address exists.

If your account is locked

Repeated failed sign-in attempts can lock an account for a short period. Wait for the lockout to expire, then try again with the correct password. If you are still locked out, ask the administrator to review the account.

Two-factor authentication

Two-factor authentication adds a second step after your password. When it is available on your account:

  1. Open Settings → Security.
  2. Choose Enable two-factor authentication.
  3. Scan the QR code with an authenticator app.
  4. Enter the six-digit code from the app to confirm.
  5. Save the recovery codes in a safe place.

If you lose your phone, use a recovery code. If you lose both, the administrator must reset the factor for you.

Devices and sessions

The site records the devices used to sign in. From Settings → Security you can:

  • See recent devices and locations.
  • Sign out other devices.
  • Sign out everywhere after changing your password.

Administrators are signed out of other devices automatically when they change their password.

Account status and reasons

Your account can be active, inactive, suspended, or frozen. When an administrator changes your status, the site now tells you why:

  • An in-app notification explains the change.
  • An email is sent to the address on the account.
  • The message includes the reason and, where relevant, what to do next.

If you believe a status change is a mistake, reply to the email or contact support with your account email and the date of the change.

Impersonation

Administrators can use Login as to view the site as you, which helps them reproduce a problem. While this is active, a banner appears at the top of the page. The administrator does not see your password, and the action is recorded in the admin audit trail.

If you see an impersonation banner when you did not expect one, sign out and change your password, then contact the administrator.

Delete your account

  1. Open Settings → Account.
  2. Choose Delete account.
  3. Read the warning and confirm.

Deleting an account is permanent for the parts of the profile that identify you. Orders, invoices, and financial records are retained where the law or the marketplace's accounting rules require it. Withdraw any wallet balance before deleting the account.

Good habits

  • Use a unique password that you do not use on other sites.
  • Turn on two-factor authentication if it is offered.
  • Never share a verification code. Support will never ask for one.
  • Sign out on shared computers.
  • Keep your email address current; it is the main way to recover the account.
