EU Compliance
EU Compliance gathers the parts of EU readiness that touch your chatbot into one page: a signed data processing agreement, AI transparency checks with an audit trail, follow-up emails for offline visitors, and VAT-ready invoices.
Open it from EU Compliance in the left-hand menu. The page has four tabs: Agreement, AI transparency, Follow-up & invoices and Audit log.
These tools help you meet obligations such as GDPR and the EU AI Act, but they are not legal advice. Make sure your published policies match how you actually use them.
Agreement (DPA)
The Agreement tab shows a Data Processing Agreement with a version number. Accepting it records who accepted it and which version, so you can prove it later.
- The tab lists the sub-processors that visitor data reaches, so you know who handles it.
- Click Accept DPA to accept. The accepted date and version then show on the tab.
- When the agreement is revised, the version changes and you can accept the new one.
AI transparency
Every public chatbot name or short description should state that it is AI. On this tab:
- Click Run disclosure check.
- HelpNest scans your chatbots and reports how many it checked.
- If any are missing an AI label, it lists their names so you can fix them.
The same tab explains that each AI answer and each human takeover is logged automatically. That log is the beginning of your AI Act audit trail.
Follow-up & invoices

| Email offline visitors when staff reply | Sends one email per 30 minutes per chat when a staff member replies to a visitor who is not currently in the chat. Visitors active in the last 5 minutes are skipped. Replies to that email reach your account email. |
| Enable invoices | Off hides this plugin's invoice route (it returns a 404). Turn it off when you bill customers elsewhere. |
Below the switches, fill in the VAT billing details shown on invoices:
- VAT number
- Billing name / company
- Street address
- Postcode and city
- Country
Click Save when you are done.
Audit log
The Audit log tab lists recent compliance events with the time, the kind of event and a short detail — for example DPA acceptance, disclosure checks and follow-up emails. Use it as evidence that the checks ran.
