How to Deactivate Domain License
This guide explains how to deactivate your product license from a domain. Deactivating frees the license so it can be activated on a different domain.
When to Deactivate a License
- Moving your site to a new domain
- Transferring a license to a client
- Switching from development to production domain
- Selling or transferring ownership of a license
Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure you have:
- Admin access to your product installation
- Your product purchase code
- Access to the admin panel login page
Deactivation Steps
Step 1: Login to Admin Panel
Navigate to your product admin login page and sign in with your administrator credentials.
Step 2: Navigate to License Settings
- From the admin dashboard, locate the Settings menu in the sidebar
- Click on General Settings or License Settings
- Look for the license activation section
Step 3: Deactivate the License
- In the license section, you will see your current activation status
- Click the Deactivate License button
- A confirmation dialog will appear — click Yes or Confirm to proceed
Step 4: Verify Deactivation
After deactivation:
- You will see a success message confirming the license has been deactivated
- The license status will change to Inactive or Not Activated
- You can now activate the license on a different domain
Troubleshooting
Cannot find the deactivate button
Some products may have the license settings in different locations:
- Check under Settings > License
- Check under Tools > License
- Check under the Theme/Module Options menu
Deactivation fails
If deactivation fails:
- Check your server internet connection (outbound HTTPS must be enabled)
- Verify your purchase code is valid
- Clear your site cache and try again
- Contact support if the issue persists
License still shows as active after deactivation
Try these steps:
- Clear your browser cache
- Clear your site cache (if using a caching plugin)
- Re-check the license status page
- If still showing as active, contact support with your purchase code
Reactivating on a New Domain
Once deactivated:
- Install the product on your new domain
- Go to the license settings page
- Enter your purchase code
- Click Activate License
- The license will verify and activate on the new domain
