Overview

The SMS Gateway plugin lets your marketplace send text messages to users. It is used for two main purposes:

1. Phone verification — confirm a user owns the phone number they registered with.
2. OTP login — let users sign in with a one-time passcode instead of a password.

Why use it

• Adds a second layer of trust on new accounts.
• Reduces fake signups.
• Gives users a password-free way to sign in.

How it works

1. The user enters their phone number.
2. Your site sends a one-time code by SMS through the provider you choose.
3. The user enters the code.
4. If it matches, the account is verified or the user is signed in.

Requirements

• An account with an SMS provider (see Providers).
• Your provider's API key, sender ID, and endpoint.
• SMS credits with the provider, since messages are paid per message.

Where to find it

After activation, an SMS Gateway menu appears in your admin panel with settings and message templates.
