File Attachments

Send various file types including images, videos, documents, and archives with rich type-specific display.

How to Attach Files

Method 1: Click to Upload

1. Click the attachment icon (paperclip) in the message input
2. Select file(s) from your device
3. Preview thumbnails appear below the input
4. Send — Files are uploaded and displayed

Method 2: Drag and Drop

1. Drag files from your desktop/file manager
2. Drop onto the chat message area
3. A "Drop files here" overlay appears during drag
4. Preview thumbnails appear after dropping
5. Send — Files are uploaded and displayed

Image Gallery

Single images display inline. Multiple images are grouped into a gallery grid:

• 1 image: Full-width display
• 2 images: Side-by-side grid
• 3+ images: Grid with overflow count badge

Video Player

Videos display with a built-in player:

Batch Uploads

Files sent together are grouped by batch_id:

1. Select multiple files at once
2. All files upload as a single batch
3. Images in the same batch are displayed together in a gallery
4. Other files in the batch are listed individually

Technical Details

• Storage: Files stored using platform's storage system (local or cloud)
• Size limit: Configurable via CHAT_FILE_MAX_SIZE (default: 10MB)
• Security: File type validation, virus scanning (if configured)

Drag and Drop

The drag-and-drop feature provides a seamless upload experience:

1. Drag enter — Full-area overlay appears with upload icon
2. Drag leave — Overlay hides (with counter for nested elements)
3. Drop — Files are extracted and added to upload queue
4. Preview — Thumbnails appear before sending

Tips

• Batch uploads — Select multiple files at once for efficiency
• Image previews — Review images before sending
• File naming — Use descriptive file names for clarity
• Compression — Compress large files before sending
