Currency Switcher Widget
When 2 or more currencies are enabled, a currency dropdown appears automatically in the store navigation bar.
Customers can click the dropdown, select any enabled currency, and all prices on the current and subsequent pages update. The switcher shows the currency code and symbol. The selection is remembered for the whole browsing session — no login required.
If fewer than 2 currencies are enabled, the switcher does not appear.
Session Behavior
The selected currency lives in the visitor's session. If a customer picks a currency and it resets on the next page, it is a session issue — ensure session configuration works and try clearing browser cookies.
Geo First-Visit Flow
When geo-detection is enabled and the GeoLite2 database is installed:
- On the visitor's first page load, their IP is checked against the offline GeoLite2 database.
- Their country is identified.
- The best matching enabled currency is selected automatically.
- The page reloads once to display prices in the detected currency.
- A browser flag is set — detection runs once per visitor, not on every page load.
Country mapping examples:

If the country matches no enabled currency, the default currency is used.
Integrations
Cart Discount plugin
Discount tier thresholds and flat discount amounts convert to the visitor's currency, and the currency symbol in the discount widget updates.
Loyalty Points plugin
Point redemption discounts convert to the selected currency, and cart total comparisons use the correct currency value.
Product prices
Regular prices, sale prices, and variant additional pricing convert everywhere — listings, product pages, and cart. See Products Overview.
POS module
POS operates in the store's default currency only — currency switching is storefront-only.
Troubleshooting
Switcher not showing? Enable at least 2 currencies.
Symbol showing incorrectly? Symbols ship with the seeded currency data — contact your platform provider for a database correction if one looks wrong.
