Exchange Rates and Settings
View and Edit Rates Manually
On any enabled currency card, the exchange rate field is editable:
- Click on the rate number.
- Type the new rate.
- Click Save.
Refresh All Rates Automatically
If an ExchangeRate-API key is configured (see below), click Refresh All Rates — the system calls ExchangeRate-API and updates all enabled currency rates to current market values.
Rates are cached for 1 hour to prevent excessive API calls.
Settings — API Key and Geolocation
Tenant Admin → Multi Currency → Settings
ExchangeRate-API key
Enter your API key from exchangerate-api.com to enable the Refresh All Rates button and automatic daily rate updates, which run once per day.
Steps:
- Sign up at exchangerate-api.com — a free tier is available.
- Copy your API key.
- Paste it into the Exchange Rate API Key field.
- Click Test to verify the key works.
- Save.
IP geo-detection
When enabled, the system detects each visitor's country from their IP address and auto-selects the best matching currency on first visit.
| Toggle | Behavior |
|---|---|
| OFF (default) | All visitors start with the default currency |
| ON | Visitors automatically get a currency matching their country |
Example: a visitor from Germany gets EUR; a visitor from Bangladesh gets BDT.
Geo-detection requires the GeoLite2 Country database on your server. If it is missing, the toggle appears greyed out — contact your platform provider to install it.
Troubleshooting
Refresh All Rates button missing or disabled? Add an ExchangeRate-API key in Settings first.
Geo-detection toggle greyed out? The GeoLite2 Country database is not installed — contact your platform provider.
Prices not converting correctly? The base currency your prices are entered in should have a rate of 1.0, and the correct currency must be set as Default. See Managing Currencies.
