Landlord Theme Settings
As the platform owner you control which themes tenants see, what each theme card shows, and where the Demo button points.
Editing Theme Details
Landlord Admin → All Themes → hover card → Edit Details
The edit modal controls what tenants see for each theme:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Theme Name | Display name on the theme card and preview modal |
| Theme Description | Short description shown in the preview modal |
| Theme URL | Live demo store URL — tenants click Demo to open this |
| Theme Image | Thumbnail screenshot shown on the card |
Tips: keep names concise (for example "Emart — Electronics"), describe the niche or key features, always use https:// in the Theme URL, and keep images a consistent size for a clean grid.
Activating and Deactivating Themes
Landlord Admin → All Themes
Use the Active / Inactive toggle on each theme card. Active themes are visible on tenant Themes pages and can be selected; inactive themes are hidden from tenants.
Deactivating a theme does not remove it from stores already using it — existing stores keep running normally. It only prevents new selections. Deactivate when a theme is under maintenance, its demo store is broken, or you are temporarily hiding it during updates.
Demo-URL Setup: One-Time Flow Per Theme
When a tenant clicks Demo on a theme card, it opens the Theme Demo URL stored in the central database (static_options table, {theme-slug}_theme_url). After a fresh install this URL is empty, points to the developer's demo server, or uses the wrong domain — so tenants see no preview or the wrong website. Fix it once per theme:
Step 1 — Create a tenant store for each theme.
Landlord Admin → Tenants → Add New Tenant
Create one tenant per theme with a clear identifier:
| Store Identifier | Purpose |
|---|---|
demo-emart | Demo store for the Emart theme |
demo-fashion | Demo store for the Fashion theme |
demo-grocery | Demo store for the Grocery theme |
Step 2 — Log into each demo tenant store via the Login-as-Tenant button or the store subdomain {identifier}.{your-platform-domain.com}.
Step 3 — Activate the theme with demo data inside the tenant admin: Themes → hover the theme → Preview → Set theme with demo data → Select Theme. The store now shows the theme with sample products and layout.
Step 4 — Copy the store URL (https://{tenant-identifier}.{your-platform-domain.com}, for example https://demo-emart.storacart.com).
Step 5 — Update the theme URL in landlord admin: All Themes → hover the theme card → Edit Details → paste the store URL into Theme URL → Save. The Demo button is now live for tenants.
Step 6 — Repeat for every theme. Each theme needs its own demo store.
